Summary: The project is targeted to children at social risk and to specialists and parents who are dealing with them on a daily basis. It is very important to establish good support services for children and their parents on the local level to be able to help children to make progress in school and also later in their lives. The project, through international cooperation and enrichment, will enchance equal opportunity for the most vulnerable and disadvantaged groups of children, will help them to integrate better in a community life and will contribute to their successful socialization in future. The cooperation of the four schools (in Põltsamaa, Pskov, Valmiera and Tartu) , three SOS Childres´ Villages, as well as local municipalities and departments of education give more opportunities to develop the system of support, to improve quality of educaton for children at social risk. The target group is over 1000 students, over 160 teachers. The project will provide a platform where specialists can share their strengths especially in dealing with children with difficult social backround and special educational needs, enrich the knowledge and help to find solutions for complicated cases. The training programmes for specialists (teachers, supportive personnell, other educational workers) will improve their skills for appropriate work with children. The training programmes designed and run for parents will provide them with knowledge on how to support and manage their children. Other project activities -visits, out-off school activities, cultural events etc- will diversifiy learning through practical activities. They will help to raise the motivation of pupils by using new communication tools and providing opportunities to create contacts on the international level. The introduction of new and innovative methods will ensure that pupils are well prepared for independent living and will raise their self-esteem. To ensure the efficiency of educational activities the following cross- boarder cooperation and joint development activities are envisaged : - Widening and strengthening of local partnerships and networks for providing complex solutions for children at social risk. - Creating and developing international partnerships and networks to share good practice and resources and to strengthen collaboration. - Developing methods, materials and support teams for sharing best practice with other schools and communities in participating countries. - Developing social skills of pupils (especially children at social risk) and their motivation to study by offering a variety of activities developed and shared by partners. The project outcomes can be used widely to cooperate in the field of education of target groups between Estonia, Latvia and Russia.
