Via Hanseatica in Russia, Estonia and Latvia passes big and small cities from St. Petersburg through border towns Ivangorod-Narva, Hansa town Tartu, border towns Valga-Valka, Hansa town Valmiera and Sigulda to Riga.



Nature around Via Hanseatica can be described as a wild beauty, which has inspired poets, writers and painters. Large areas are also protected as nature reserves and nature parks.
Via Hanseatica is a mix of various cultures it passes, offering an unforgettable choice of people and their heritage, different religions and architecture with manors, castles and fortresses. But there is one thing that you see is similar - the people treasure their traditions and know how to enjoy life!

Via Hanseatica holiday can be taken with a family, group of friends or just by yourself. The planning is made easy and entertaining.  Via Hanseatica travel portal www.viahanseatica.info gives you a possibility to plan, save and print the holiday route, info about selected objects, eating and overnight places and the timeline of the trip to ensure that all the plans fit into the holiday time. By mid-February 2014 Via Hanseatica holiday is supported also by the mobile application.

Via Hanseatica tourism route is developed by tourism development organisations, municipalities and tourism entrepreneurs of the route. The partnership is lead by Vidzeme Planning Region from Latvia.

Via Hanseatica project is being implemented during the period from January 2012 till December 2014. The lead partner of Via Hanseatica project is the Vidzeme Planning Region (Latvia). Altogether 18 partners are taking part in this project. The total budget of the project is 1 803 966 Euro where 90% or 1.623.569, 66 Euro of this amount are financed by the Estonia-Latvia-Russia Cross Border Cooperation Programme within European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument 2007-2013.
