TOUR: Tour de Latgale & Pskov celebrates the finish of the project period and waiting for new waves of tourists

Project “Tour de Latgale & Pskov” successfully completed its activities and local and foreign tourists can benefit from the fruits of good cooperation of two cross-border regions Latgale, Latvia and Pskov Oblast, Russia. Five cross-border tourism routes were elaborated, that joins both regions into one common tourism destination. To make visiting Latgale and Pskov more enjoyable 28 small recreation infrastructure objects were improved in 10 municipalities of Latgale and 5 municipalities of Pskov region. To attract more tourists from Russian Federation, two press-tours for mass-media and tour-operators from Saint Petersburg were organized.

In two years, during the project period many different activities were implemented.

All of the project partners worked a lot on the image of a common tourism destination. In two years project partners participated in international tourism trade fairs in Vilnius, Riga, Tallinn and Saint Petersburg.

In workshops for involved in tourism sector were organized and around 100 tourism specialists and entrepreneurs took part in them.

There was a massive marketing campaign organized to attract more tourists to project area. Marketing campaign includes advertising on TV, radio, internet and environmental advertising. Tourism maps and brochures for distribution at tourism trade fairs and Tourism information Centres of both regions were issued. Brochures were distributed on the board of Air Baltic aircraft for one month as well.

Project budget of all partners was 1 681 815,20 EUR, and 90 % or 1 513 633,68 EUR (1 063 787,80 LVL) is financed by Estonia-Latvia-Russia cross border cooperation Programme within European Neighborhood and Partnership instrument 2007-2013 and  10 % is financed by project partners.
