Road infrastructure of border regions in Latvia improved
Investments into traffic safety of transit roads have been completed in Ludza and Viļāni in Latgale Region of Latvia. Municipalities of Districts of Viļāni and Ludza are partners in Project "ESTLATRUS TRAFFIC" supported by the ENPI Estonia-Latvia-Russia Cross Border Programme. Opening ceremony in Viļāni took place on 23 November 2012 and reconstruction of transit road stage of 495 meters, which was co-financed by the Programme is completed. Now it will be safely used by local pedestrians, cyclists and drivers, as well tracks leading through Viļāni to the Eastern border of Latvia.
Programmes co-financing is 144 926, 00 euro. Total costs of reconstruction works were 607 323,54 euro.
Reconstruction of transit road stage of 510 meters was completed and opened on 21 November 2012 also in Ludza. As the stage of the road is placed in wetlands, biggest part of works were done to install proper and specific drainage. In addition, lightening and road for pedestrians was installed taking into account needs of local inhabitants and special needs of weak-eyed people.
Programme co-financing for reconstruction of the road is 231 796, 31 euro. Total costs of reconstruction works were 602 807, 55 euro.
