"Europe in my Region" photo competition

The European Commission’s Facebook page hosts the 'Europe in my Region' photo competition this summer. Estonia-Latvia-Russia programme invites Projects and everyone, who participates in EU Project or spots an EU funded project in the region, take part and win EUR 1000 and a trip for two to Brussels in October 2012.

The ‘Europe in My Region’ Photo Competition aims to highlight the excellent work that projects across Europe are doing with the help of EU funding, and explore what these projects mean to local communities.

Categories
Participants are invited to enter photos in two categories:
- MY PROJECT - open to organisations that have benefited from EU regional funding (i.e. from the European Regional Development Fund or the Cohesion Fund);
- EYEWITNESS -  open to anyone living in the EU who spots a project either in their region or when visiting another region.

Participation
To take part, all participants need to do is take a photo of a project which includes evidence of EU regional funding (e.g. featuring a billboard, signpost, plaque, etc., with the EU flag and funding information in the pictures). Maximum three photos per contestant.

Selection
Two winners will then be selected in each category; one by popular vote (voting begins on 27 August and ends on 7 September) and one by jury from a selection of the most popular remaining entries. Photos will be judged on their aesthetic quality, creativity and relevance to EU regional policy.

For this reason, do not hesitate to share the news about the competition and show off some of the great projects around Europe receiving regional funding. Follow @EU_Regional on Twitter and the EC Facebook page here for more news soon.

And finally, whether you are at home or abroad, do not forget to keep your eye out for projects and your camera at the ready!
