Project Site in Russia visited during the Annual Event of the Programme in Estonia
Annual Event of the Programme gathered about 160 participants from Estonia, Latvia and Russia on 31 October 2012 in brand new built Narva College of the University of Tartu building in Narva. Honoured speakers as Mr Siim Kiisler, Minister for Regional Affairs at the Estonian Ministry of Interior, Ms Dace Grūberte, the Head of the Joint Managing Authority of the Programme and Mr Alexander Tsybulskiy, the Head of Department for International Relations and Cross Border Cooperation of the Ministry of Regional Development of the Russian Federation opened the Event with a friendly hand shake.
Moderator of the Event Mr Ansis Bogustovs in a friendly and open atmosphere led the Event to be a success from the very beginning.
Programme Implementation in Facts, Projects in Keywords, European Cooperation Day Local Actions by Projects and Programme – these were evidences of implementation of the Programme after almost a year of first signed Grant Contracts. The Head of the Joint Technical Secretariat Ms Unda Ozoliņa presented the programme and Project Managers Ms Natalia Orava, Ms Kristīne Paberza, Mr Siim Juks represented Projects.
The Workshop “Good Partnership” was led by the very experienced expert in Project Management Ms Sille Talvet and second workshop “How to present Project results to Public” was led by the experienced Journalist Mr Ansis Bogustovs.
During Coffee Break the Participants and Project partners met each other in friendly discussions and meetings around the spacious premises of the fancy building.
Exhibition „ European Cooperation Day 2012 in retrospect” provided a sight back to the Projects and Programmes first experiences during the European Cooperation Day Actions, which took place Europe wide and in involved partner countries on 21 September 2012.
To experience real border crossing and in order to visit Project Sites in Russia, a guided tour was organized to the Ivangorod Fortress. In coming year on both sides of the border – Narva-Ivangorod Fortresses Ensemble and its surrounding area will receive around 16 Million EUR Programme financing for improving accesses to the Narva and Ivangorod Fortresses and creation of innovative tourist services, reconstruction of the River embankments on both sides of the border as a promenades, reconstructed Narva Fortress Victoria bastion and Ivangorod Fortress Small Powder Granary of the 17th century, as well improved border crossing.
Closing of the Event was addressed by Vice Mayor of Narva Mr Aleksander Ljudvig, who stressed the importance of the partnership and expressed the satisfaction of the expected results. The Key Action in Estonia „ Two cities – Two friends” was awarded as the most attractive European Cooperation Day action of the Programme.
Positive atmosphere of friendship and partnership was noticed by participants and after the Event Narva and Ivangorod - both are marked in memories of everyone.
