On 20 September participants of Estonia-Latvia-Russia cross-border cooperation Project “People with nature” visited Education centre “Raduga” in Pskov, Russia, where nature education lesson about nature values in the borderland for school children was organized within the European Cooperation Day 2013.
During this class Project partners from Estonia, Latvia and Russia presented the new nature education tools which are being made during the project “People with nature”. Nature education specialist from Nature Conservation Agency (Latvia) presented different games about nature values as a part of the lesson. Through those games children learned more about trees, identification of the different species, differences in the names of the trees in Latvian and Estonian languages, etc. And they also found out new things about birds and their feeding in winter, the importance of regular feeding once it is started in the beginning of winter time.
Tartu environment education centre and Peipsi Centre for Transboundary cooperation, project partners from Estonia, showed the movie about Lake Peipsi and after watching the movie children did some tasks about fish. Project partners from Russia presented their new quiz about wetlands and Ramsar convention. Children did all tasks with big enthusiasm and were glad about this nature education lesson together with teachers from Latvia, Estonia and Russia. By spreading their knowledge, experience, and printed educational materials to school children, the project partners felt they had contributed to development of both better relationship between nature and humans and future cooperation.
