ESTLATRUS TRAFFIC: Traffic safety campaign "Father, Mother, Me - Safety Family" brought reflectors fashion from Estonia to Pskov Region
Pskov regional public organization "Lake Peipsi Project" finalized and summed up the results of the Traffic safety campaign "Father, Mother, Me - Safety Family". The action, held in Pskov Region from 18 till 23 February 2014, was co-organized by “Lake Peipsi Project”, Administrations of Pskov, Krasnogorodsk, Pytalovo and Pechory Districts of the Pskov Region with the support of the Pskov Region Department of the State Inspection for Roads Safety.
The aim of the action was to popularize and disseminate flicker-reflectors which help to considerably improve road safety during dark hours. To ensure success of the action Lake Peipsi Project together with State Inspection for Roads Safety prepared a guidance manual with a set of stencils and special light-reflecting paper.
The main participants of the action - small children from kindergartens and schools - assisted by their teachers made snow-flake reflectors with their own hands and presented them to their relatives and friends. Thanks to this public action more than 17 000 reflectors were disseminated to the inhabitants of different districts of Pskov Region. It will hopefully help to raise awareness of children on the road safety and raise the road safety standards in Pskov Region following good example of Estonian neighbours.
The campaign was organized within the implementation of international project “Increasing traffic system's capability within EE-LV-RU international importance transport corridors” (ESTLATRUS TRAFFIC) with financial support of Estonia-Latvia-Russia Cross-Border Cooperation Programme 2007-2013. One of the aims of the project is to improve traffic safety through organization of public events and local information and publicity campaigns. The project ESTLATRUS TRAFFIC is implemented by 14 partners from Latvia, Estonia and Russia. The Beneficiary is Latvian office of Euroregion "Country of lakes". Pskov Rregion is represented in the project by Pskov regional public organization "Lake Peipsi Project", Administrations of Pskov, Krasnogorodsk, Pytalovo and Pechory Districts of the Pskov Region.
