EDU NO BORDERS: Final conference of cross-border project brought to Tartu partners from Estonia, Latvia and Russia

On 26 November, 2014 the conference “Cooperation for Quality Education for Children at Social Risk” took place in White Hall of History Museum of University of Tartu and gathered all partners of trilateral CBC project “EDU no borders” as well as many other participants interested in actual educational issues.

The event was opened by Mayor of Tartu city Mr Urmas Klaas and moderated by Estonian singer Mr Marek Sadam.

 

Presentations given by Ms Meeli Pandis, advisor of educational issues of SOS Kinderdorf International, Ms Mare Leino, Docent of Social Pedagogy of University of Tallinn, Mr Rein Schihalejev, Director of Tartu Forselius School handled thematic topics like social risks and social problems at school, methods of teaching, child-friendly school approach, difference of genders in study process, role of teacher, how to support students under social risks to get the quality education.

Project partners from Põltsamaa, Tartu (Estonia), Valmiera (Latvia) and Pskov (Russia) introduced audience to the results achieved in cross-border cooperation project “EDU no borders”. New publication about good practices and experiences acquired through cross-border cooperation was presented.

Overview by Ms Riina Vaap, Project Manager of JTS of Estonia-Latvia-Russia Programme made the public acquainted with information about Programme support to projects and current status of implementation of projects.

 

 

 

 

Importance of international cooperation and support for cross-border exchange of experiences, common undertakings in sphere of education was highly appreciated and stressed by speakers.

In May 2013 the Grant Contract of the project “Cooperation for Quality Education for Children at Social Risk” (EDU no borders) was signed by Director of Põltsamaa Co-Educational Gymnasium (Estonia) and Joint Managing Authority of Estonia-Latvia-Russia Programme. Total cost of the project is EUR 231 766,00 and co-financing by ENPI Estonia-Latvia-Russia CBC Programme 2007-2013 is EUR 196 767,00.

Conference was organized by Põltsamaa Co-Educational Gymnasium and Tartu Annelinna Gymnasium (Estonia).
