Cross-border cooperation shapes and unites the creativity of Latvian and Russian artists

Summing up all the skills in art and literature we have gained new friends and done great things through cooperation in frame of the project “Shaping of Latvia-Russia border municipalities united cultural information place and cooperation network by means of literary artistic creative potential” supported by the Estonia-Latvia-Russia CBC Programme 2007-2013.

 


We established a common cultural space for new opportunities and challenges in art and literature, where there are no boundaries.

Improving infrastructure in each of the involved municipalities there was built an open-air stage in Karsava, an outdoor reading room - place near the library in Vilani, as well renovated the library in Shlisselburg.

 

In order to facilitate mutual communication between the project partners the multimedia equipment was purchased, organized an international teleconference, set up a blog "Forget a Hurry", created a virtual museum access point - all that has contributed to the cultural and artistic development and encouraged further cooperation between new friends.


 

Some of the main objectives of the project were development of interpersonal communication what was supported by six local and three international meetings of writers and artists, a five-day summer camp for children in Karsava. Book "Forget a Hurry” what was published in 600 copies, was like a reward for everyone on their literary or artistic work.  It was presented to wider audience and appreciated by public.

  


Closing Conference in Shlisselburg reflected the ambitions of the project, its works and feelings, bringing together a large number people from target groups.

The project was implemented in 20 months and has given a priceless experience to participants.

Total cost of the project was EUR 200 000, of which EUR 171 000 (85,5%) funded by the Estonian - Latvian - Russian Cross Border Cooperation Programme within European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument 2007-2013. Contribution by project partners is EUR 29 000.
