„Cross Border Cooperation. Advancing Partnership. Bridging together.” – Annual Event of the Programme invites to Narva (Estonia)

On 31 October Estonia-Latvia-Russia Cross Border Cooperation Programme will hold its Annual Event in Narva (Estonia). Event is organized as the Conference and the Site Visit to Projects, which have started their implementation in two border cities Narva and Ivangorod by the end of 2011 and beginning 2012. Main aim of the Event is to promote cross border cooperation and the existent results of the Programme via introduction to several Projects and exchange of experience on practical implementation issues, as well to strengthen existing partnerships in already supported and future Projects.

Academic lecture by Aleksei Turovski, Estonian zoologist and ethologist, will touch on crossing borders in an alternative way. Lecture is not directly related with the implementation of the Programme, but will encourage thinking about existence of borders in our daily lives.

Workshop on how to strengthen partnership in the Project will be lead by very experienced Project Coordinator Ms Sille Talvet (Estonia), who represents two Estonia-Latvia-Russia Cross Border Projects – „Via Hanseatica” and „People with Nature”. The parallel workshop will be on theme how to address the wider public in human way.

There will be an opportunity to visit both Ivangorod Fortress with the real border crossing and Narva Castle.  Narva-Ivangorod Fortresses as a single ensemble is situated in both sides of the Narva River in Estonia and Russia. Both Fortresses and its surrounding will benefit from the Programme financing in amount of about 16 Million Euro in coming two years and 4 Projects should be completed by the year 2014.

The venue of the Annual Event is Narva College of the University of Tartu, which since beginning of October is situated in brand new building.
