CBA: Cross border cooperation enlivening sport in border areas of Latvia and Russia

On 8 July sports experts from Smiltene (Latvia) visited Porhov District (Russia) and on 30 July the visit of sports experts from Porhov to Smiltene took place in frame of  CBC project “Cross Border Athletics” (CBA).

During the meeting in Porkhov project partners from Russia presented their renewed sports stadium which was reconstructed in the frame of the project and Porkhov sports school introduced partners with its sports system and the arrangement of  the daily work of the local sports school.

The exchange of practical skills in sphere of athletic training took place in Smiltene Sports School with javelin-throwers demonstrations. Sport system of Latvia, as well the Children and Youth Sports School of Smiltene town and local sports facilities were presented to colleagues from Porhov District. The visit to Smiltene Stadium which is currently under the reconstruction in  frame of the project was arranged. 
Smiltene´s sport experts also introduced to Russian colleagues the athletics training methodology they use and open group training of the sport school was organized.

Total cost of bilateral CBC project “Cross Border Athletics” is 220 000,00 EUR. The co-financing of the ENPI Estonia-Latvia-Russia CBC Programme is 188 100,00 EUR (85,5%) and partner`s co-financing is 31 900,00 EUR (14,5%).
