To proceed with the preparation of CBC Programmes 2014-2020 the 7th meeting of the Joint Programming Committee (JPC) Estonia-Russia and the 6th meeting of the JPC Latvia-Russia were held back-to-back on 12th– 13th March 2015 in Tallinn, Estonia. Meetings chaired Mr Priidu Ristkok - Head of Regional Development Department, Ministry of the Interior, Estonia and Ms Iruma Kravale - Director of Development Instruments department, Ministry of Environment Protection and Regional Development, Latvia. Both events were co-chaired by JPCs members from the Russian side Ms Angelina Stebakova – Senior Advisor and Mr Rafael Abramyan – Director of the Department for Regional and Cross-border Cooperation Development of the Ministry of Economic Development, Russian Federation, respectively. The deadline for submission of the Joint Operational Programmes (JOP) to the European Commission is June 30, 2015. Read more
Project "Cross-Border Athletics" created perfect conditions to attract sportsmen and active people to sports activities and to demonstrate their abilities in international athletic competitions in Russia and Latvia. Within the project implementation sport complexes in Smiltene (Latvia) and Porhov (Pskov region, Russia) were developed in order to provide lasting opportunities for children and young people in the field of athletics to improve young athletes' achievements. Together with infrastructural component the competence of sport coaches and athletes in athletics was raised during organized trainings and exchange visits. Read more
LogOnTrain Project (Logistics and Overland Transport Network for Training ‘Blue Collars’) of the Estonia-Latvia-Russia Cross-Border Cooperation Programme completed in the end of February after 23 months of hard and interesting work on improvement of training in the sphere of cross-border and international transport, freight-forwarding and logistics. Another key point of the project objectives was to create and stimulate connections and networks between the business communities, local and regional authorities and educational institutions.

Four projects funded under Priority II – Common Challenges present its outputs and results aiming to protect environment and natural resources and preserve cultural and historical heritage. Projects “Emajõe-Pskov WMP”, “GreenMan”, “E-archive”, “Promoting Heritage” achieved and presents remarkable results. Several water and waste water treatment plants around the Lake Peipsi are constructed and 4 large scale urban green areas in Tartu, Rēzekne and Pskov are created thus improving environmental conditions in border areas of Estonia, Latvia and Russia. Virtual archive as an online digital platform has been developed and valuable genealogical information is made accessible. 3 historical buildings are restored and new Cultural centres are opened in Räpina, Pechory and Viļaka. NGO «Lake Peipsi Project, Pskov» received Public Award «People’s Acknowledgement-2014» for publications made within ENPI CBC “Estonia-Latvia-Russia” Project “People With Nature”. The organization took the first place in the category «Best printed advertising product» for 2 publications: Photo album «Nature values of the Pskov region» and Guide «Ecological trails of Pskov region». The seminar was organized by the Consulate of Latvia in Pskov, Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development of the Republic of Latvia, Cross-Border Cooperation Programme Estonia-Latvia-Russia within European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument 2007-2013, State Committee on economic development and investment policy of the Pskov region. The issue of Latvian Presidency in 2015 was at the focus of the seminar as well as the importance and aims of cross-border cooperation. Read more
Preparation of new Estonia-Russia CBC Programme 2014-2020 is in progress and the first draft of the Joint Operational Programme (JOP) is now ready to be introduced and is published on our website. The public hearing of the Programme will take place on 6 March 2015 at Radisson BLU Sky Hotel Conference Centre in Tallinn, Estonia. Read more
On 10 February 2015, regional Centre for disposal of hazardous and infectious medical waste, created in the framework of the project “Eco-friendly disposal of hazardous medical waste in the cross border region” (Medical Waste), held its opening ceremony in Kohtla- Jarve town. The Centre will operate at Ida-Viru Central Hospital using newly developed its logistic system of separation, collection, intermediate storage, and transportation of hazardous medical waste. Responsible project partners from Russian regions and some of their counterparts from Estonia and Latvia got together in Pskov and St.Petersburg (Russia) on 11 and 12 February, respectively, for briefings and consultations concerning final reporting and closing of the projects. Beneficiaries and partners took active participation in Russian events and many questions about final reporting were raised. Read more
