Today, on 29 April new mobile application, based on a virtual augmented reality technology, which helps tourists see the past is launched in Ludza, Latvia. Mobile application is a part of reconstruction of the historical Ludza Livonian Order castle and was developed within the cross border project “Tour de Latgale and Pskov”. Augmented reality technology allow with your tablet PC see exterior and interior appearance of the castle, as well learn many facts about the time of the Livonian castle's history and everyday life. Today Ms Polina Zaytseva started to work as Project Manager in the Estonia-Latvia-Russia Cross Border Cooperation Programme Main Office in Riga, Latvia and will be responsible for management of programme’s projects. Read more
“Border capitals” of Estonia, Latvia and Russia bordering regions will use new approach towards the management of green urban territories with the help of a special data base, elaborated by the staff of Pskov State University.
The Administration of Pskov City will get this unique data base of the city parks together with special software for the management of green urban territories. They both were elaborated by Pskov State University team within the framework of the Cross-border cooperation project of Estonia-Latvia-Russia CBC Programme “Tartu, Rezekne, Pskov: Green Management for Urban Development & Planning in EE-LV-RU Border Capitals” (GreenMan).

On 03 April 2014 the foundation stone ceremony took place in Tartu where the cornerstone of Tartu boat harbour was laid. Tartu boat harbour is one of 3 harbours, which are constructed in the framework of the large-scale infrastructure project “Economically and Environmentally Sustainable Lake Peipsi Area” (Common Peipsi). The Project “Promoting nature education as efficient mean of awareness raising” (People with Nature) has issued its second very colourful and informative Newsletter. The Newsletter gives lots of interesting updates on implementation of activities in the project areas in Latvia, Estonia and Russia and offers a closer look at the eleven partner organizations involved in this project, as well as their work developing and promoting nature education. A new ENI section with information and links about the new external relations financial instrument, the ENI (European Neighbourhood Instrument), replacing the European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument (ENPI), has been created on the EU Neighbourhood Info Centre website. The aim of that partnership between the EU and the Neighbourhood countries should remain - “to establish an area of prosperity and good neighbourliness, founded on the values of the Union and characterized by close and peaceful relations based on cooperation”, according to the Treaty on European Union. Over 10 000 children are benefiting from the cooperation among Estonia, Latvia and Russia in the frame of the cross border cooperation. New playgrounds, new nature education centres and joint sports and cultural events involve children in free time and educative activities and international workshops provide new skills in photography, energy efficiency and traffic safety. Participants of at least 24 out of 50 cross border cooperation projects supported by the programme are children and this year the focus of the programme activities is directed to sum-up intermediate results of this support. The third and last two days seminar on final reporting and project closure issues in Gulbene, Latvia on 9-10 April, 2014 gathered about 70 project implementers from Estonia, Latvia and Russia. They represented Beneficiaries and Partners of 15 Projects within the Programme. Presentations and practical exercises covered topical issues related to programme visibility and accessibility of outputs, on-spot visits to the projects, role and obligation of the partner within project partnership, filling in the financial and narrative part of final reports. Practical exercises, facilitation of networking and opportunity for individual consultations were highly appreciated by participants. Read more

On 3 April ceremonial opening of newly constructed water treatment plant in Tiheda village, Kasepää Municipality, Estonia took place. New water treatment plant provides solution for cleaning iron-reach groundwater and will supply the region with high quality drinking water. Results of laboratory water tests showed that the water of newly established facilities responds to the set standards of drinking water. Read more
