On June 19-20, 2014 cross border cooperation project on cultural heritage digitization "Cross Border E-archive" was completed with a closing conference "Digital Archives and Historical Cross Border Heritage". A two day programme of special events, which were held in Riga and Jurmala (Latvia), gathered a wide range of stakeholders – professionals, IT experts and members of the archival community in Estonia, Latvia, Russia and Lithuania – for a dialog about topics related to preservation of the cultural cross border heritage and digitalization in memory institutions. On 12 June the Project "Promoting nature education as efficient mean of awareness raising" (People with Nature) opened exposition “Nature House Inside Out” in Tartu Nature House, Tartu, Estonia.
The exposition introduced to the participants house construction, management and links of the household with the environment. It guided the visitor through the house and the natural park. In the exposition there were presented eco-friendly building constructions and decoration materials, water-, energy- and waste circles, winter garden and park facilities.

On the occasion of the European Cooperation Day – celebrated on 21 September 2014 – INTERACT launched a video contest, ‘Border issues, border solutions’ . Participation is open to ENPI CBC projects, programmes and individual film-makers. The purpose of the initiative is to share videos highlighting the results and benefits of cooperation in Europe. The winner will be invited to an award ceremony and kick-off event of the European Cooperation Day in Milan, Italy in September 2014. Submission deadline is 15 July. Read more
Estonian football youth championships (in boys B1, B2, C2 and girls B and C leagues) during the seasons of 2012 and 2013 hosted and involved Pechory, Russia, youth football teams within the cross border sports project "Cross Countries through Football", which has been finalised in May 2014. In addition, two youth football tournaments were organised in new football ground in Narva and FC Tartu youth team had a training camp at renovated Pechory stadium. The president of Estonian FA, Aivar Pohlak, stressed cultural dimension "Many people in Pechory have family or cultural connections in Estonia. Our task is to give a chance to these people to participate also in Estonian football." Read more
The third annual ‘Europe in My Region’ Photo Competition takes place this summer and aims to raise awareness of projects which have received funding as part of EU regional policy. The competition is run via the European Commission’s Facebook page. Read more

From 5 to 8 June working seminar was held in St.Petersburg (Russia) to exchange and share experience in preserving historical and cultural heritage. Specialists from Leningrad Region Museum agency introduced achievements in management of historical parks and gardens, estates. In return, experts from Vidzeme Tourism Association together with culture, tourism and development specialists from 10 local municipalities of Vidzeme Region presented their tourism offers and green cultural heritage. After reconstruction works within the cross border project “Landscape pearls” Grand Cascade is in its full beauty and functionality first time since 1850 and was officially opened on 3 June as a part of the Project Site Visit within the Annual Event of the Programme. The stone wall and portal were reassembled: damaged stones were substituted by new ones. The water pipe was restored, the balustrade renewed. Grand Cascade in Pavlovsk Park was erected in the years 1786-1787 by architect Charles Cameron. Read more
Annual Event of the ENPI Estonia-Latvia-Russia cross border cooperation programme on 4 June in Gatchina, Russia clearly showed that remarkable results have been achieved in the spheres of tourism and technology development, as well in people to people cooperation. About 200 participants representing regions of Estonia, Latvia and Russia took part in the Event. As acknowledged by Ms Iruma Kravale, Head of Development Instruments Department, Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development of the Republic of Latvia the Programme is boosting and Project and Programme Events Calendar shows very intense implementation schedule each month. 18 projects out of 50 in implementation have completed activities by June 2014.

On 30 May in Narva and on 31 May in Ivangorod new infrastructures for better access to cross border fortresses were opened in colourful ceremonies. Narva Castle Park in front of the Fortress got rebuilt fountain, restored monument, new tracks and chairs, dog stations and greenery – 18 new trees and 200 other plants were planted. Narva Castle is now better visible and park is becoming a nice place for inhabitants and visitors of Narva. Ivangorod Fortress opened parking place, toilets, and wide and comfortable stone stairs leading to the Fortress. Tourist buses and visitors now can visit the Ivangorod Fortress comfortably. Read more
